Kindle Fire v.s. the iPad 2
Tablets are the hit of Christmas this year, and I want to find the best one that’s worth money. I want a tablet because they have portable Internet access wherever there is WiFi, I can read on them, and there is quick access to games, email, and Facebook.  To find a comparison chart I looked up on google search: “Kindle Fire vs iPad 2”.  After that I came up with a comparison chart that compared the Kindle Fire and the iPad 2.  Out of many questions there is one that most important:  which tablet is better?
There is many things I would like to compare between the two but right now I want to compare their physical traits.  The kindle is 7 in. while the iPad is 9.7 in.  The iPad 2 is 46% heaver than the Kindle weighing 21.28 oz while the Kindle Fire weighs 14.6 oz.  The Kindle Fire has a 28% higher pixel density than the iPad 2 having 169 ppi while the iPad 2 has 132 ppi, and they both display more than 16 million colors.
Next I want to talk about their software and memory.  Both tablets have a 1GHz dual core processor and both have free cloud storage.  The Kindle Fire only has 8GB of storage, while the iPad 2 has twice as much.  The Kindle Fire has flash support and the iPad 2 does not.  Both systems have wireless capability and reliable Internet browsers, The Kindle Fire having Amazon Silk and the iPad 2 having Safari.  Being a smaller system, the Kindle Fire has only 7.5 hours of video playback battery life and the iPad 2 has up to ten hours of mixed use.  Both tablets also have multitasking capabilities.
After I talked about the tablets software and memory, I would like to talk about the extra things about each system.  The Kindle Fire has a Prime instant video feature that lets you instantly stream nearly 13,000 popular movies and TV shows at no additional cost.  The Kindle Fire also has a owners lending library feature that lets Prime members barrow from thousands of popular books at no additional cost.  The Kindle Fire can have movies, shows, songs, games, apps, magazines and books from Amazon and the iPad 2 from iTunes.  On the Kindle Fire you can sync most of your Amazon content on other systems including the iPhone, iPad, Androids, Blackberry, Windows 7 phones, internet-ready TV’s, Roku, TiVo, and through your web browser.  You can also watch half a movie on your Kindle Fire and then sync it on your TV or another device and keep watching the other half without having to restart it.
In the end I ultimately chose the Kindle Fire.  Even though the Kindle Fire has many features,  there are some that I’ll have to live without:  a camera, less storage and not as much battery life as the iPad 2.  Some of the Kindle Fires features really did stand out though.  those features are it’s flash support, it’s weight, it’s resolution, it’s size, it’s feature of syncing onto many other devises and the fact that t is $300 less that the iPad 2.  That is why I chose the Kindle Fire over the iPad 2.

Misfits Essay
Many people have grown up following the phrase “Respect your elders”.  Respect is not only for your elders but for everyone.  The Misfits by James Howe is about four unlikely friends, Bobby, Joe, Addie and Skeezie going to Paintbrush Falls Middle School trying to make it through seventh grade.  Each of these major characters gets called names every day.  Addie gets called names because of her learning abilities and her height, Bobby because he is fat, Joe because he is gay and Skeezie because of his dirty ways and his great lack of manners.  Together they are the Gang of Five.  Everyone has their moments, and this time it’s Addie.  even thought she doesn't show respect early, she eventually leans how to be respectful throughout the book.
At first Addie doesn't show respect.  In class she doesn’t say the Pledge of Allegiance because she feels like the pledge is untrue and that she has a right not to say it.  This shows that she is being disrespectful towards her teacher by not participating in wh
at she is asking her to do.  Addie also argues with Mr. Kiley about his shutting down the Freedom Party and says, “This is so unfair...  it’s more than unfair, its not right!”  I think she is being disrespectful towards Mr. Kiley because by arguing with him she is questioning his authority and his knowledge.  I also think that she is not necessarily purposely trying to be disrespectful towards Mr. Kiley, she is just arguing about something she thinks is important and worth arguing about.  Addie also has a problem with calling people names.  When she gets mad or angry she takes it out on a person by using name calling,  for example:  “Morons!”, “Birdbrains!”, “Turkeys!” “Chickens!” (page 148 and 149)
Latter Addie shows respect.  Addie was being respectful to Bobby by giving him lots of compliments on his speech about the No-Name party like “You were brilliant Bobby!”(on page 257).  Earlier in the book Addie was being respectful to all the people in the school who get called names by helping to make the No-Name party, which was a third party in the student presidential election.  I think that if Addie is always respectful, she would be respected in return because you know that what goes around, comes around.  For example, Collin, a seventh grade student who goes to Paintbrush Falls Middle School is a  popular kid because of his kindness and his respect for others.  He is respectful and respect is what he gets back.
James Howe was able to convey the importance of Addie Carle through the change in respect.  Addie Carle doesn’t show respect to others then she eventually learns how to be respectful throughout the book.  I think that the phrase “What goes around comes around” is definitely true because if you are nice to someone, there is no reason for that person to be mean to you, only a reason to be nice, and this is what Addie Carle, from the Misfits, accomplishes. She accomplishes being respectful.

When I hear the word “friend”, Connor immediately
comes to mind.  Connor has been my friend for a long time, probably ever since I came to Trinidad School which was in third grade.  One of the reasons Connor and I are good friends is because we have a lot of things in common.  We both skateboard, we both like to eat a lot of the same things like pizza, ice cream, and cookies.  We also live close to each other which gives us more time and possibilities to hang out together.
Even though it seems as if Connor and I are exactly the same, we are not.  We have our differences.  I remember one time in third grade where he and I  were hanging out on the playground, then, all of a sudden he called me a name that he had just learned, and it hurt my feelings because I was not used to being called names back then.  For a couple of days I stayed away from him and hung out with my other friends.  Played games with other people.  Well, maybe i needed a break?   I said to myself that I would never hang out with him again, but of course this was not true because his good humor and his funny attitude made me and him go back to being buddies again.  I guess he didn’t take it as seriously as I did, because he was the one who said he was joking and that we should be friends again which made me feel better in a way.
We were now back to our old selves, walking the track, hanging out together, being friends.  This is how it should be.
Well I guess a true friend can never be exactly the same as his buddy.  Not one human being can be entirely different from one another, also.  Connor and I are friends today, and we will definitely be friends tomorrow, and maybe for the rest of our lives.

Technology of Me

Every day i use my cellphone. I use my cell phone for calling people like my mom and dad or just texting my friends to stay up to date. I also use a computer to go on Facebook or YouTube to listen to music.  I also play games on armor games because they have a big selection of games that are fun.  I think that technology in 10 years will be better than it is today.  I think that eventuly there will be better cars that have way better gas mileage than the ones today.  Hopefully gas prices will go down also.  I also truly think that in 50 years we will all be driven to school on hovercrafts!
